PAINTING IS LIKE BREATHING

Growing up in a problematic home, I discovered the potential of painting at an early age. It enabled me to dream myself into other worlds. Painting helped me compensate for the challenging times of my youth. It gave me the opportunity to explore the world around me openly and positively.

While my paintings in the earlier years were often autobiographical and accordingly serious, over time more and more lightness crept into my works. My paintings are filled with light and space. Looking at the paintings allows for moments of pause and rest. They are meditations on the wall.

A central theme in my work is water. Water is constant and yet always shows new facets. It is constantly moving and seems to simply take our worries with it on its way. It tells stories and calms us down.

I paint large-format pictures in acrylic and oil on canvas. I paint nature and light and play with realistic elements and abstraction.
